Back on St John Island US Virgin Islands

Sorry to go quiet on the blog.  We left Christmas Cove last week and motored over to Little Lameshure Bay on the south Side of St John USVI.  It was a beautiful little cove with a lovely beach.  However very rolly.  The next day we moved over to Great Lameshure Bay - much better.  We stayed there 3 nights.  During the day we hiked, swam, read and did a few boat projects.  There wasn't any free wifi so no blogging.
We left there yesterday and motored around the east end of St John, thus completing our circumnavigation of St John Island.  We sailed west back into Maho Bay were we took a National Park mooring near our friends s/v Terrapin.  There were 6 Salty Dawg boats in there as well as several others but not too crowded.  Happy hour on s/v Terrapin we got to meet some Salty Dawgs we have not previous met (s/v Georgia and s/v Meander) as well Steve and Vern - guests onboard s/v Terrapin.  Bonus was seeing Salty Dawgs s/v Rocking B in Francis Bay (adjacent to Maho) and their very special guests - Shea and Elizabeth.  We first met Shea and Elizabeth in Morehead City NC where they liveaboard were our dock neighbors.  Very nice couple.  We couldn't resist the change to say "Hi" to them.
Our current mooring ball is turtle central.  I watched for over an hour this morning as numerous turtles swam all around our boat.  Amazing sight that never gets old.  We weren't able to pick up any free wifi so we jumped into the dinghy and motored around the Cinnamon Bay hoping to find some.  No luck.  However we needed to get on and pay some bills and such so we bit the bullet and purchased a days worth of wifi.  We are currently sitting at the funky little outdoor restaurant at the  National Park campground at Cinnamon Bay using our pay wifi.  However we don't want to spend ALL day here so I will wait until we get to Caneel Bay to update the blog with stories from the past week and pics.  I want to get some beach/clear water/warm pics on there for everyone freezing back in the states.  It sounds terribly cold and seems it's covering most of the country.  Ugh!
We plan to head to Caneel Bay tomorrow.  Last time we were there we had smoking hot (as much as it can be down here in the islands) free wifi.  Then we will be making our way Friday over to RedHook on St Thomas.  Not yet sure how.  We might take the ferry.  We have a package to pick up and are in BAD need of a provision run.  We are running out of some basics.  Dinner last night was super duper mashers.....mash potatoes with cheese and bacon crumbles.  That was it!  Tom loved it!!
We have started looking for a weather window for the sail to Sint Maarten.  Next week is looking good.

  1. Hey Guys! Happy New Year. Love following your Blog and wanted to let you know to keep a lookout for a Beneteau 46.1 named "Megerin" with our friends Ray and Sandy. They have been cruising for many years and know the USVI, BVI and Windward and Leeward Islands. Great folks from Pittsburgh, PA. Here's their Blog address http://megerin.blogspot.com/

  2. We have two favorite restaurants in Marigot -- La Vie en Rose and Tropicana. We have actually eaten twice in on e day at Tropicana and usually take a couple of hours if tables aren't in demand. Christophe is the Maitre D'. Ask about his kids, and you become family.
