On The Road To s/v Honey Ryder - The South

Swamp
We crossed the Mighty Mississippi River at Lake Village AR.   We drove 2 and 4 lane NON-interstate highways so we could see some of Americana.
Tuscaloosa AL - too long to explain but funny stuff
Our navigation for most of this trip was this handy dandy pocket size atlas.

And while it was handy, it was also very deceiving in terms distance, primarily because it was so small and the scale was microscopic.  Yes, we know there are tons of map apps and web sites, but this was more fun.

However, even though we were not on a schedule, we were anxious to get to the boat and move aboard.   Old habits die hard.  Our country is big and after 1 1/2 days, we were like..."OMG, when are we going to leave whatever state and arrive in the next state?"

Finally we arrived in Brunswick GA at 5pm Friday night, 6 days after leaving KC.

  1. I can't believe you were in Lake Village, AR! This is where my son-in-law, Larkin's parents live! Been down that highway several time when visting them. The new bridge there is really neat! I hope you are enjoying your new life. Try to check in sometime! Remember I live on the coast now so you can just sail on down to Corpus Christi sometime and have a place to stay on land for a while!

    Take care!
