We use Tropical Sands, which has served us well over the years. We continue to use it on our bike rides, even though we're far from any reef, but like you say, everything is connected, so even showering it off, it ends up in the water supply. Better to be safe! I have been cutting up six- and four-pack rings for years. The only thing I haven't done so far (from this post) is the straw, simply because I haven't seen any of the alternatives to plastic to buy anywhere. I do plan to do this soon, though. Good going on you!Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15572905521059358017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9004189091013768875.post-4823746434936237652018-09-18T19:41:05.216-05:002018-09-18T19:41:05.216-05:00We used to have that book -- perhaps it was one of...We used to have that book -- perhaps it was one of the ones we shipped off to you when we decided to sell our sailboat? The costumes are simply astonishing to me. And the fact that they are different every year! I think the ladies must work on these all year, starting the day after the current year's parade. Considering how difficult obtaining materials can be in "da islands", and the fact that most locals have serious financial challenges, I could never understand how they could put together such elaborate and beautiful costumes. It is most impressive, as are these in Bonaire. When we visited Celestun in the Yucatan state of Mexico on the Gulf coast, there were also huge flocks of flamingos, and they also had salt flats, so perhaps the two are in a symbiotic relationship? We got to go a lot closer to flamingos and salt than Bonaire let you, though!

Assume you mean dial tone on your last photo - lol! Do they mean where we were born, grew up, lived most of our lives (all NC for me, but Barry is Ohio for the first two and NC for the latter question). Or where we are from NOW? As full-time travelers, we are Florida "residents", legally, but in actuality we don't "live" anywhere. We spend most of our time of late in Florida, but we have also spent a lot of time in Mexico, Belize, and North Carolina over the past few years, among other spots. We spent three months in Washington state, does that count? This question gives me fits! Most typical people have no trouble answering, but we sure do.Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15572905521059358017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9004189091013768875.post-33656043536052571352018-03-25T16:21:58.390-05:002018-03-25T16:21:58.390-05:00I get this as we had the same issue in Mexico -- o...I get this as we had the same issue in Mexico -- on a tourist visa, you must leave the country every 180 days. That seems like a lot, but sometime the timing is just not right. Belize has no such requirement, but their policy is even more restrictive in a way -- if you do not have residency, you must go once a month to apply for another month, and pay for another month. When you leave the country and return, you should get a passport stamp for a month, but sometimes, for who knows what reason, they don't give you a month. One time, I got 30 days but Barry was only give 7. No explanation given. So from then on, we were screwed up as we were on totally different renewal schedules. We ended up renewing mine early at some point just to get back on the same schedule. More money in their pockets, eh? I have never seen a Scarlet Ibis (though the white ones are everywhere here in Florida), and I am sure most of the other birds you saw would be new to us as well. We've been to hummingbird places like that (the best one was in a small town in southern Arizona called Patagonia), but I am sure you saw species we've not seen as well.
